June 3rd & 4th

After a 4-hour flight from Boise to Atlanta, a layover spent running to the international terminal, and an 8-hour flight from Atlanta to Paris, I finally made it to France! It was my first overnight and international flight, complete with two meal services: four cheese ravioli with Greek salad, and an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. The sweet older couple next to me were headed to Nice, and were so excited to hear about my summer plans.

After a chaotic couple of hours finding my group in the airport and taking a shuttle to our residence, I spent some time unpacking before our first Absolute Internship group activity: a Happy Hour at a local bar called Le Noddi. We mingled before returning to the residence to deal with the jet lag.

The next morning, I ventured to the Monoprix, a store similar to a Walmart or a Target store, just around the corner from my residence. We had another Absolute Internship welcoming event at a work-share space, grabbed a sandwich at the Monoprix, then got ready for a big scavenger hunt of the city.

The scavenger hunt included visiting L'Arc de Triumph, the Jardin des Tuiliers, the obelisk at Concord, and more. It was going great until we got caught in the middle of a thunderstorm, just before we were supposed to meet at the Eiffel Tower. We detoured (aka took a wrong turn) and walked the perimeter of the Ecole Militaire before finding refuge under a pergola. We played cards there until we decided the rain wasn't going to get much better. We treated ourselves to crêpes, where I ordered in French for the first time! It was an exhausting first few days.
